I just posted on the other Photobucket thread about another workaround. If you're on it you'll have seen my post, but just in case...
Adding a " ~original " right after the ".jpg" gets the images back.
Such that it now looks like " .jpg~original " (without the quotes).
Not sure all the little nuances, but the guy trying it had it image show back up in the thread. So apparently it worked for him.
