Update! After a few weeks of my case languishing in the bureaucracy of Ford, I started and email chain yesterday with a ton of detail in it, timeline, issues etc. By the end of the day the repairs were approved and an extended warranty. A little disappointed I had to go to the mattresses for a day but not surprised. Most big company's deny until the squeaky wheel gets greased. Truck should be ready end of next week. I believe both banks of cylinders are used now to try and prevent the jackhammering issue during regen. At least the update that came out in 2016 for the 2015+ motors; assumption is the 2017 motors use this same design. Part of the issue is that EGR is only pulled from the right hand cylinders. I guess that requires the EGR valve to be closed during a regen.
MisterScotty, sorry to hear your engine needed to be replaced and the run-around you went through. Glad it is being taken care of. It does sound like a faulty injector. My guess is they will only replace the failed injector. Each injector is printed with a "quality" code so that the new injector can be programmed "down" to match the quality of the other injectors.
