Yup. Big Blue's long bed has the same hole in the frame and yet no bolt through it. There's a bed liner in so I can't see the indentations, but I can tell from the bottom there is no hole in the bed.

So, the drawing works for both the long and short Styleside beds. Interesting!

That rail hole/ bed support channel is 22 7/8" back from the front bed bolt and corresponds with "one" of the dimples in the bed floor as seen here

Kurt - Thanks a bunch for the measurements, pictures, etc. I think I have my head around reconciling yours with mine, and I've included the table on my web site on the Illustrations tab here: Body Mounts - ???Gary's Garagemahal.

And, let me tell you how I came up with those measurements:
  1. Radiator support is in the same place as long-bed: 0" from itself
  2. Front cab mount is in the same place as regular-cab long-bed: 46" from #1
  3. Rear cab mount is in the same place as regular-cab long-bed: 48" from #2
  4. Front bed bolt hole is also in the same place as the RCLB: 6 1/2" from #3
  5. You showed a hole 2 3/8" back that isn't used, and that must be location 5, just like on the long-bed, to make the # of holes work out: 2 3/8" from #4
  6. To get the measurement from bolt hole #5 to bolt hole #6 I took the distance #5 is from #4 (2 3/8") and subtracted that from the 22 7/8" from #4 to #6: 19 1/2" from #5
  7. To get this distance I took your C-B measurement of 44 3/4" and subtracted the 22 7/8" of #4 to #6: 21 7/8"from #6
  8. I took your C-A measurement and subtracted 1": 30 7/16" from #7
  9. 1" as you said, from #8
Please let me know if I did it correctly. (And now you see why I was confused.)

All looks good except that I believe the value for bolt #6 in your table should be 20 1/2"
22.875 - 2.375 = 20.5

I have a degree in math and can't subtract.

Thanks, I'll update the spreadsheet.

I am going out in a few for measuring my trucks.
It looks like you need from the rear cab mount on back for all the bed bolt holes right?

As for your web page why the RCLSS then RCSFS then RCSSS etc.?
Why not RCSFS> RCSSS> RCLSS> etc. being short to long?
OCD in me is all LOL

3rd> 4th - 22
4th> 5th - 30 3/8
5th> 6th - 1 1/4 last hole in frame

81 style side LB
cab> 1st hole - 6 1/2
1st> 2nd - 18 7/16 not used

Dave - I am easily confused. Here's what you said and what I'm understanding or confused about. My comments are in red, and I'm going from the drawing attached below, which is what my table works off of.

81 style side LB (Same as Dad's, so measurements should be the same)

Bolt Hole #4: cab> 1st hole - 6 1/2 Same as I measured
Bolt Hole #5: 1st> 2nd - 18 7/16 not used I measured 18 1/2", so very close
brace at 19 1/2 but no bolt Ignored this as we are counting holes in the frame
Bolt Hole #6: 2nd> 3rd - 38 I'm very, very confused on this as I get 20 3/8". And I just re-measured it.
Bolt Hole #7: 3rd> 4th - 22 I get 22 1/2", which is fairly close, but .....
brace 19 no bolt Ignored this as we are counting holes in the frame
Bolt Hole #8: 4th> 5th - could not measure from under side I measured 30 1/2"
Bolt Hole #9: 5th> 6th - 31 7/8 last hole in frame If there is 1 1/4" between #8 & #9, as I measured, then #7 to #8 is 30 5/8"

And, here's what I have so far, which is also on the web site here: Body Mounts - ???Gary's Garagemahal. Obviously I need to get the colors off so it is more legible, but we need to make sure we are in agreement first. And here are the issues I see:
  1. You and Kurt are off 3 1/4" on the 5th to 6th bolt hole dimension on the short frame. So we need a "measure-off".
  2. You and I are off 17 5/8" on the 5th to 6th bolt hole dimension. And I just re-measured in a 74-degree well lighted shop. Want to go with my measurement?
  3. I've assumed 1 1/4" for your 8 to 9 hole measurement and then gotten 30 5/8 for your 7 to 8 hole measurement, so we need confirmation that you agree with me. But, my shop is 74 degrees and I have good lighting, so.....
  4. Can I assume you have 8 bolts holding your short bed on? I think that is what you meant, but I am not sure.

If you go back to posts #19/20 and correct the table to 20 1/2", then Dave and I only differ by 2 1/4". Cow inky-dink that it's similar to that unused hole #5?
I'll re-measure in the morning.

Sorry been out of town and no time to follow on phone.

I will check ASAP, I should be in bed as 3am comes soon, and will update.
Could be I was overcome by heat as it was 100* in the garage

Sorry it took so long to get the measurements
So lets try this again.
LB
cab to 1st bed bolt = 6 1/2"
hole not used = did not measure this time
1st> 2nd bolt = 39"
2nd> 3rd bolt = 22"
hole not used = 1 3/8" from last bolt
3rd> 4th bolt = 31 1/2" this is the last bolt on the frame

SB
there is no bed on this truck and other holes have been drilled so I picked the ones I thought held the bed on
cab to 1st bed bolt = 6 1/2"
hole not used = did not measure this time
1st> 2nd bolt = 22 5/8"
2nd> 3rd bolt = 22"
hole not used = 30 1/4"
3rd> 4th bolt = 31 1/2" this is the last bolt on the frame

Looking over this information it looks like I can take the long bed floor and starting from the rear going forward I can get 2 of the cross beams to work and being there are (think) 2 other beams that don't have bolts thru them they may line up to the other holes?

btw it was still 90* in my garage, mid 80's outside.
