All these posts about crappy, orange peel paint jobs isnt very encouraging. I wonder is there is enough clear to buff it a bit with compound. Also wonder if the new limited will have any more care taken with the paint than the lower priced models. crazy to think of an 80k vehicle having that kind of paint quality.
Yup... and the Ford dealership bodyshop in town has made it worse. I am on iteration 4 of a simple storm damage repair to some scrapes and scratches. The whole front of my truck has sprayed, over-sprayed, under-buffed, over-buffed, scratched by the body shop, riddled with runs and fish-eyes, and at one point, completely hologrammed due to poor polishing. Super frustrating. It's about to get ugly.
True statement! The body shop FINALLY got their act together and did the job right (reference my last post in this thread). I can't wait to get this truck paint corrected and coated. Should really help the color pop, while giving it a little protection because it swirls and scratches super easy!
I love black trucks, but always wanted a red one even more. I was hoping red would be easier to take care of than my last black truck. I think it might be even worse since it is a pearl color but still pretty dark!
However, as hard as it is to take care of, nothing comes close to the look and pop of the Ruby Red! Y'all need to stay away from the auto car washes, touchless or not. They are terrible for this paint. The mechanical will leave swirls and the touchless will leave waterspots. I've found that Optimum No Rinse wash using high quality microfiber, doing one panel at a time, and a two bucket method provides the best results.
Talk me out of blue jeans..... I was set on blue like I always get. But it looked kind of boring in the shade. So I am ordering ruby. Then yesterday at the dealer there was a super shiny blue jeans 150 all detailed and ready for a customer in the bright sun and the heavy flake in that paint is awesome!.....
