National Car Rental

I rent a car just about every week from either Hertz or National. I mostly choose pickups, I get to drive all the trucks out there big and small, seeing what I like and don't. Today, landing in Detroit, I go to the Emerald Aisle and what do I see... Super Duty's!. Although its equipped much like my own, I had to rent it. F250, CC, XLT, 6.2 Auto, 4x4 w/manual shift. Not sure the rear end gears but it sure feels stronger than mine, although I pay an altitude penalty, all my vehicles feel more powerful if they ever get to sea level.

They had just about every make/model truck for rent but I've driven most of them already. No diesels, but still, very cool.

That would be awesome to pick up from the Emerald aisle. I took a Ram 1500 once which was fun. I don't rent them anymore because my American Express card insurance specifically excludes full size pickups.

I rent from National all the time and recently had an F150 but have not seen any Super Duty trucks yet. I will have to keep my eye out for one.

Years ago, when I traveled to Charlotte nearly every week, I would rent a F150 4x4 from Hertz. It was the least expensive, large vehicle in their inventory but was always available. I even drove the same truck on at least 6 consecutive rentals. I was in Cleveland, OH last couple days for a funeral and Hertz did not offer a pickup as an option......ended up driving a 30K mile Jetta.....nice car but any rental car at 30K miles is like a typical car at 100K+.

Manual shift? I didn't even know that was an available option.

I believe he meant the 4x4 was engaged manually.
