Update to my installation of Recon Clear Lens Clearance Lights.
In my second winter with these lights I developed a leak into the cab, a very slight one, which was dripping from the upper console drivers vanity light.
Kind of odd, it would only drip when parked in heavy rain, no leak in very heavy rain while driving.
Now for trouble shooting, could it be the sunroof? Unlikely as most of these leaks have been reported in other locations, near the pillars mostly.
Windshield? Examined closely and no indication of this as a location.
Maybe I did a poor job of applying sealant under the new lights before installing? Don't think so as I applied a ton of black adhesive sealant under each light.
So I opened the sunroof and stood up through it to look directly down on the Recons and I could see water pooling over the mounting screws. Ummm, makes sense as it only leaks when sitting still in heavy rain.
Next. Applied generous coat of black silicon adhesive sealant over the mounting screws and left for a 5,000 mile trip at high elevations in heavy rain, snow, etc. Truck sat outside in rain many nights.
No more leak. See pic below.
I am thinking that possibly other trucks with cab lights having leaks may have the same source, even with factory lights so I posted for others information.
