*1937 Pickup Winshield Regulator*
I'm going to have the rubber seal and glass replaced on my 37 before winter hits and I want to get the Winshield working to get some fresh air in. Looking through the windshield I can see that the regulator seems to be there but the handle on the dash just spins around. My question is, do I need a new regulator? Plus, when I take it in to have the glass and seal replaced is this something the glass shop can unbolt and bolt the new regulator in?

I believe it might be a '37 only part. As you'll find, in a lot of ways the '37 is a bit of a challenge since it's a 1 year only truck. You might be able to repair the regulator, but you'll need to pull it out to see exactly what is the issue. I'm betting teeth are sheared. I would be willing to bet most glass shops won't be very well versed in this work. You might need to find a specialty shop or car restoration place if you don't want to do the work yourself, after all, Ford hasn't had crank out windows on a civilian vehicle since '40.

Just got home from work and had a little time to check the windshield before we head to the county fair to watch the grand kids show their 4-H animals. I can pop the window from the inside at the bottom corners and the frame moves so it doesn't look like the windshield is sealed in. If I just knew how to get that dash panel out I could check out the regulator and at least see if I can get the windshield to open a little.

Thanks for the info. I got the 2 bolts from under the dash loosened up. I'm going to see if I can use a small cutoff wheel and cut the top of the 2 bolts off that are connecting the 2 regulator arms to the bottom of the windshield frame. If I can get those cut off the windshield should open and then I can get to the 8 screws up front that hold the dash panel in. Heat index is 105 today so don't know when I'll get around to trying it out.

The crank handle was stripped out. The clip that holds the crank handle to the dash panel was missing and while I was pushing on the window and turning the crank handle it fell off in my hand. I put the crank handle back on half way to grab some good teeth and it cranked right open. Haven't had AC in the garage in over 30 years and has never been an issue. I'd rather just use a barrel fan. Just having a week stretch of hot weather. Suppose to be back to normal next week.

Well....I don't believe I need the regulator at this point as it seems to work fine but I do need a new crank handle, windshield gasket, and setting tape.

Well....as I suspected all the screws are tight and still won't come out with liquid wrench. I have the dash panel out and I can remove the windshield frame with the regulator attached to the frame. The upper hinge mechanism I'm hoping will pass through the opening once I remove all 8 screws per side. Anyone know if the hinge mechanism we indeed pass through the opening?
