2016 diesel F250 story I was told

I think there is SOME truth to what he was told, but a lot was left out.
Depending on where you live there can be some condensation from abeant air temp changes, but draining the primary fuel filter often would take care of that. Keeping the fuel tank full would also help keep condensation to a minimum.
What i see as the bigger issue is the short drives. Short drive are hard on any engine and powertrain, even harder on Diesels, but the bigger problem is the cleaning cycle for DPF
The Diesel Particulate Filter will start to get plugged up with soot in normal use. The cleaning cycle brings the DPF to a high temputure to "burn off" the soot in the filter. This requires a long drive cycle AFTER the truck is fully warmed up and had been driven for a while.
Short trips will never get a complete cleaning cycle and will cause a lot of problems.
So today's diesels are NOT a good choose for short drives and lots of sitting. But that doesn't mean that with the proper information, and the ability to make the driving cycles changes nessary they can't be used in the way.

Hi
Listen closely.
The fellow dumped a 2016 F250 diesel because the dealer told him that the water detection system doesn’t work and when you get water in the system it will cost $16,000 to correct.
The DEF subject came up because I have never had a Ford diesel owner tell me he had water problems but I have had more than one tell me about the DEF problem.
While DEF maybe corrosive after all it is only chicken manure mixed with water but water is not generally considered corrosive. This is not meant to mean water won’t cause corrosion but its mot like acid or chicken manure.
