By the way, this is where the dealer is going to send you. Helm makes all of Ford's factory manuals.
I work in the oilfield I mile out the warranty in the first year and mile out he extended warranty half way through the second. I was in to have te GEM module changed since te interior lights would not go out, with diagnostic, part and labour bill came to 1162.00
Why is it that when I disconect batteries over night and reonect in the morning the fan worked again.
Gem modules are less than 200.00 so I dont know how the hell your bill came that high..
First I would like to thank all who gave the helpful advice,
Well sometime ago I had the light for the airbags come on not having time to have it checked I ignored it and after ignoring it for awhile the chime or dinger started to ding with very low but audible sounds, I shut down the dinger, now here is the interesting part, the fan goes through the airbag module, if you ignore it long enough it will in turn shut down the fan hence forcing you into the dealer ship to have it checked now if you still don't have time like me to leave your truck at the dealership here is something you can do to get you by.
1. With truck shut off lock seat belt into place
2. Disconnect batteries and leave alone for at least 12hrs any sooner and the system will remember you.
3. After 12 hr period reconnect batteries and all will be right again.
To Homer;
The cost of the replacemant of the GEM was due to.
1. I'm in Canada
2. 90/hr shop rate
3. They had no idea what they were doing
4. If at first you can't fix it start changing out components until you do.
5. Bill the costumer for the experiment.
A computer chip is like a woman if you aproach the situation with an open mind you can get what you want ( eventually)
