Code; fuel sending unit
I'm guessing there is a bad ground somewhere in and around the fuel tank. Are there any accessible ground straps I can check?
This can be caused by high sulfur content fuel.
Check out Ford TSB on some f150 and expy vehicles.
TSB 08-2-9
I would also change fuel filter.....if it's clogged the pump might be trying to pull too many amps.
But I would also make sure you don't have high sulfur in fuel tank.
What year is your truck?
Have you considered the possibility of water entering thru the front windshield seam, and then leaking down onto your CJB (fuse box) - causing it to go wonky? That's a known issue on our trucks.
Earlier this year my truck was randomly stalling. It would stall, but start right back up.
I tried the MAF, fuel filter, IAC Valve...and gave up.
I took it to the dealer. The dealer said it was the fuel pump, so they changed the pump, fuel filter, and sending unit.
Two weeks later, it stalled again. I took it back to the dealer, they had it for a week, but could not diagnose the problem.
I asked them to troubleshoot the fuel pump relay, which on my 03, is built onto the CJB. The dealer said it was fine, and suggested that changing out the CJB was a major deal.
I learned the relay is built onto (soldered) the CJB board, and cannot easily be changed out, and the CJB is now obsolete/end of life.
BUT, there is a repair service on eBay that fixes Expedition CJB's as water damage is a known problem. It's an easy fix, and costs less than $200 by the time you pay shipping to the repair business, and back.
By this time, another member here also had the same stalling condition.
We both pulled our CJB's and sent them out for repair in late April.
Then, another member chimed in and said he had also bought a used CJB off eBay - and never stalled again.
So, here we are in mid-July - and neither of us has stalled again!
Can't that B1201 also be for a fuel sender circuit fault?
Mine threw a P0231, fuel sender secondary circuit...which led to the dealer unnecessarily changing out my...fuel pump.
And keep in mind too - my dealer couldn't figure it out, and they even reached out to Ford engineering.
Just some food for thought, research out my threads for additional info.
