I've got a problem and my battery keeps draining. I have a 1981 Custom Ford F-100 Explorer/Ranger.. VIN number says Ranger, and Title says Explorer. Anyways. I've got a electrical problem and it keeps draining the battery. How would I go about finding the wire or whatever that is draining the battery? I know it's not the Battery/Alternator, Starter.... I have had those tested and they all came back good. If anyone can help with the problem please let me know.
I also need to know about what all I need to hookup reverse lights because someone took the wires off on my truck so the reverse lights dont work. I see the spot on the transmission where the reverse lights should hookup but it doesnt have anything after the harness to hook up there. Please let me know if ya know anything.
Also, I need to know everything about getting the speedometer to work. There's a little yellow box in my truck that says speedometer senor and I've hooked that back up but nothing happens. All the cables seem to be going to the transmission since I have followed them to see if it was hooked up. LMK if you know anything..
The B/U lights don't hook to the transmission , there is a normally a harness and switch that gets attached to the side of the transmission. The Harness then runs up to the firewall to another harness that runs to the main harness.
It sounds like you need a Neutral Safety/Back-up light switch.
If I remember right the harness beside the transmission has a round grey connector.
Yeah, I mean I see where the B/U lights connect to the side of the transmission. But after the harness there is no connector that I can connect to the Neutral Safety/Back-up light switch. How much do they run at the local advance, or autozone?
I got some of the information about finding a short, but didnt understand it all. Do you have anymore information on that?
