Excursions came with different overheads. I would guess that's a connector probably used for a different style overhead than the one they put in your Ex.
Now that you posted a pic of your overhead, it's easy to discern your console does not have the digital readout we call the Lie-O-Meter.
The display would be where that plastic knock-out cover piece that say's "Excursion" on it (just in front of the HVAC controls for the rear) is located.
Just FYI, those two narrow, oblong plastic knock-out pieces just after the HVAC controls are for the power switches that would open your rear, side windows, if your Ex had that feature.

so the grey plug would be for the so called Lie-O-Meter which in my case I don't have.
and also is there any way to get my rear windows to open since my X didn't come with that feature ?

I'm sure with enough money and necessary fabrication/modification/and retrofitting it can be done, I just have no clue how easy or difficult it would be to change your setup. I can't remember reading if anyone has added the power open/close feature to their side, rear windows that didn't come with that option.
