Oil Drain Mess
Someone please tell me there is a better way to drain the oil on my 390 instead of letting run all over the engine crossmember ?!

On newer trucks where the engine compartments are packed tightly, there is a plastic "drainway" to divert the oil to a drain pan.
Fast and easy options:
1. Use a piece of plastic or cardboard formed as a channel so it stays off the crossmember.
2. Order a "Fumoto Valve" and the adapter fitting/tube:
Fumoto® USA | Quick and Easy Engine Oil Drain Valves

Put aluminum foil over the crossmember and into your bucket/pan.

I put a Fumoto valve on mine - saves the 50 year old oil pan and plug from stripping.
Get the valve with the nipple on it so you can put a hose over it and direct the oil into an old jug. Keeps it nice and clean.

If I every get my daddy do's done, I'm going to weld an extra quart patch to my pan to stop that from happening.

Neither did I! All I did was add the point of protecting the oil pan thread. Mine is a 4WD and the original pans are like gold.

I cut a gallon plastic jug to the shape I wanted, it worked like a charm... I think I will go with the valve next time though.

Does anyone have a picture of the Fumoto Valve installed and how much clearance it has? That's a very tight space so I am wondering if it has enough room to put a hose on the end?
