I don't understand why Ford ever equipped anything with the automatic door locks. The doors unlock when you pull the inside door handle anyway. With other makes, I can see it if you're trying to keep kids or illegal aliens in your car, but with a Ford you just pull the handle on the inside and it unlocks anyway. It's a super annoying feature and it's a shame that some vehicles are communistic enough to have it standard and not allow it to be disabled/defeated.
I want doors that open and close when I pull the handle and I want windows that go up and down when I push the button or turn the crank. Anything extra is just added complication and ridiculousness. My wife's car is one of those communist ones that locks you in and out and it wouldn't be so bad if the doors would unlock automatically with a pull of the interior door handle to get out, but they don't. Also having to actually use the unlock button on the driver's door to let somebody in the passenger door when picking someone up is effing stupid.
My E99 came with a Compustar remote start/security system. Somehow in my pocket the right combination got pressed on the FOB for the doors to lock 'passively' after 30 seconds. My butt really tightened up when I got out at my other house away from my spare keys and I heard that distinct sound of the doors locking. Thank God the windows were down.
