A/C Compressor... what years?
I need to replace the a/c compressor on my truck and I'm hoping to save a couple of bucks and pick up a used one from a wreck yard. Anybody know what year trucks have the same compressor as my '90?
Thanks... I posted this same question on the A/C Board, but, it's a little slow and I need to get one soon!

To save you a litte time and money and make the system last... Are you going to replace the accumulator and oriface tube? Usually when ac compressors start to lock up they gride metal shavings and put the shavings all over the system and lines.
If you want it to last, get a brand-new compressor. Rebuilt's don't last any time before they wear out. Get a rebuilt/new accumulator and oriface tube. I would get those from a discount auto parts place and then take your system and have the R12 professionally taken out of the system. Don't let it escape, and then have the system cleaned out. Then put all the parts on yourself and convert to the R-124A. I did it on a 92 F-150 for a friend, and it's held up well.
