At 4,500 a year you may need a walker or seat cushion before a trade, for that matter you may need a seat cushion after a trade. Consider including it in your will. I have a 04 HD SD 4X4, V10 with what I consider 230K care free miles. Castrol GTX full synth 5 to 7k oil changes, one set of plugs, one belt tensioner and I installed ceramic coated headers when a manifold started leaking. I don't remember ever topping off the coolant or power steering fluid and have never had it back to Ford.
Replaced brake pads 3-4 times, 2 rotors and 3-4 ball joints. Original tires 93k, purchased the same type, 87K, now working on the 3rd set. Only other things I can recall are a few bulbs and wiper blades. Oh, I did replace the rear brake line due to a rub from a wiring harness at the bottom of the fire wall. I managed to forgive Ford for that. Mechanically that's it. Electrically, I replaced a chip in the overhead display and fixed a ground at the dash, both issues found here at FTE and resolved.
Continued good luck with your's !

I have an '04 I bought in 2012 with 70k and now has 145k on it. I too have the itch, but I can(will) not pay what the going price of a new(er) truck is. I have done several upgrade mods to mine and replaced parts that wear over time along with regular routine maintenance. I just can't see me parting with it. It has been a great truck that has served me very well. It has performed every task I have asked of it without any breakdown. It has and continues to tow a 10k lb+ loaded camper all over the country without issues. I just changed plugs/boots and all looked great, so I really have no reason to put myself back in debt. This is by far the BEST vehicle I have ever owned.
