I have a 2002 f150 supercab 2wd with the 4.2 v6 and i can not believe how slow this truck is off the line. I have flowmaster 40 series exhaust and it doesnt help. I am definately going to save up for a chip because this truck needs it really bad. My friend with a Saturn kills me in a race. By the time the powerband kicks in( where this truck pulls extremely hard) he is already minimum 7 cars ahead of me. I can't believe i lose to saturns. hey, but this truck wasnt meant for speed, so i cant be to pissed. This truck needs help.
its a friggin big truck with a V6 man! Hey, you probably need to get a Diablo Tuner. Don't get just a chip! That's a waste of money. Get a tuner from either hypertech or diablo or something like that. I've heard that JET chips suck.
Also, the reason it is slow off the line is because it gets its power in the later RPM range. (like 3 to 51/2 RPM's) Race him from 30 MPH.
Ain't no such thing as a Diablo tuner for Ford gas applications. They are about to release one for the Lightning/Cobra, but don't expect anything anytime this year for a 4.2L.
Hypertech, like JET, only tunes at wide open throttle. Right now the best choice for power (and most cost-effective) is Diablo since even Superchips doesn't have a tuner for the 4.2L.
