What goes in the transfer case in a "88" Fl50 4x4? A fried told me to use Mercon\ATF but when I drained the old fluid it looked like oil instead of ATF.
Positively absolutely it is Mercron ATF transmission fluid.
It may look like oil because it is the original fluid, or a previous owner used gear lube.
It will take two quarts.
It should be up to the fill plug, and maybe dripping out a little

First identify what transfer case it is , You know how people are always swapping parts . If its an Aluminum Borg Warner 1356 etc it uses ATF , Some of the older T cases , cast iron type would likely use a gear oil .
