Howdy from TX

Been following along on here for a while and working on my 1969 bump and figure it was about time to introduce myself and create a post. Building this truck with my 13 y/o daughter for it to be her first vehicle. Stationed in San Antonio, TX, but living out of New Braunfels.

Plans for the beast are as follows:
CV front end swap
99 Cobra hydro boost brake conversion
97 Explorer rear disk brake conversion
83-93 mustang WC T-5 5 speed conversion
keeping the 240 ci
remove fuel tank from inside the cab
body work and paint (not show worthy, just something nice)

Welcome,
Ambitious project you got there. I was stationed in SA too as it was my last duty station. I looked for a F100 for the longest time but couldn't find one without being covered in rust enough to make it worth my while. Glad you and your daughter are doing it together. My son (14) wanted a 69 Mustang to restore until he saw the Vette Stingrays, I'm still trying to convince him, haha.

Texan458,

She had a pick of the litter when it came to what her first vehicle would be. I "strongly" recommended a steel body truck as it would hold up better in the event of an accident (inevitable), and higher off the ground than a car. She knows I was a tech for FoMoCo so probably leaned toward a ford rather than the dreaded chebby. However, I would like to think she has ford running through her veins as well! It was definitely a search to find a F100 worth the time/investment and wasn't crazy expensive. Check out the build progress in the 67-72 page "the I love my '69 build" to follow along... has to get done before December for school.
