My dmv card says that the curb weight of my truck is 3500 lbs. It sounds a little light to me... Its an 88-f250 with a 351 HO, standard cab and short bed.
My buddy has an 86 with the same engine, his card says its 5500 lbs. But his is extended cab and an older body style. My truck really blows his away at speed.. so is this true? Is my truck really that light?

Not even close...my dad's 88 F-250 HD ext cab long bed 4x4 351 c6 weighs in the area of 5500lbs. My F-150 ext cab short bed 302 5 speed 4x4 weighs 5200ish, but I have some things in it that made it a little heavier than stock. Stock it was probably in the 4600-4700 area.

Well a 302 doesnt weigh significantly less than a 351, but the 4x4 weighs a lot more than a 4x2. (mine is a 4x2). I dont think it weighs 3500 lbs, but by the looks of it, i wouldnt be suprised if it is.
I tried to look up the spec in my manual to find the curb weight, but I could not find it. I've been searching the web but it doesnt seem like any type of spec site exists for these trucks. I know for a fact if my buddies large extended f250 weighs 5500, then mine has to weigh a lot less. His truck is about 4 feet longer than mine. The bed and body panels seem a lot thicker too...
Id like to find out specs for Ford trucks. Like weight, length, wheelbase, gear ratios, and all that stuffs... top speed, torque..

Your truck weighs atleast 5000 lbs. A 4x2 is about 150 pounds less than a 4wd. The only weight you have to deal with is the transfer case and the differential, which both combined are about 150 maybe 200 lbs. The rest of the 4wd is about the same weight as what would be there if it was a 2wd. Just take it to a weigh station if you need an exact amount. My guestimate is about 5000-5500lbs.

ok my truck weighs 3871 lbs. standard cab 2wd 5.8l.
I got it weighed at a dyno shop yesterday. I found those specs at autotrader and they said 3950. However I dont have a bumper on the rear or a tailgate. That was also with just 1 tank quarter full, the other I removed because the pickup was bad. SO Id say autotrade is pretty accurate.

Did you try searching this forum for past topics on weight? I took my F-150 to the local truck stop and got it weighed in for the first time. Same vehicle in my signature w/ standard cab and long wheelbase tipped at 5040 lbs. That number was confirmed recently as I had to drop some stuff off at the dump and get weighed afterword. I have both official weight tickets in front of me right now.
(edit) Coogles nevermind.. I overlooked that part about the dyno scale you used. Still sounds awfully low, but I bet that thing is quick

i didnt get my weight from a website... theres a dyno shop down my street that neighbors a machine shop and some tire/brake place. they gave me 3871.
But if you wana compare dump tickets, i took my truck down to a iron/steel recycling center to get rid of a bunch of junks springs, rotors, shocks, and metal bars. I weighed in at 5900 and weighed out at 4400 (i had about 16 rotors and a few deisel truck drums). That was when I had a 2 ton lift as a tailgate and tool boxes along the sides of the bed. Those are now removed.
I've never been to a city trash dump with it though.

EDIT (cant use edit button so ill just repost)
you can get specs from motortrend.com also. Acording to motortrend.com AND autotrader.com, 4x4 93 f150 with a 5.8 should be 4200 lbs.
From all my experience with vehicle weight, it seems they are pretty accurate. I've looked up a lot of cars that I know much more personally and they sound perfectly valid.
Dont forget if you go to the dump, it weighs everything you have. Fuel, cargo, tools, spare tire, and even you.
