I need help in finding out what my problem is. I have a 1997 F250 crew cab 4X4 short bed 5 speed 7.3 power stroke heavt duty with 115000 miles on it. I run Shell Ratella 15-40 with 1 qt Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer and napa oil filter, fuel filter. When I come up to a stop light, throw in the clutch the RPM drops below the idle point almost dies then goes up to about 1100rpm then settles to normal, but it does not do it every time. Some times when idleing around on dert roads, if I idle down hill then up the other side it allmost dies and some times does. It has a hard time recovering from the coast down hill. Other than that it runs perfict. NEED HELP.

Oil additives can negate the effects of the additive package already in the oil. You're already using a good oil and you don't need additional additives.
Where is the cps located and what does it take to chang it. Are there anney other posibe culprits for this, such as a pedle position censor or the pedle its self. Thanks again John.
I think john meant the CMP=Cps....cam position sensor . Located on lower left front of the block ...down by the harmonic balancer . Purchase a new one fron Int'l dealer as it should be cheaper from the ford dealer. it has a 2 wire plug and i think it has one metric bolt holding it in place. Pickup a glowplug relay (100) as it will keep your truck from starting. good insurance....sk
From what I understand, using the wrong oil additives can cause foaming of your oil, this will cause your fuel injectors to malfunction as they are fired by the high pressure oil pump.
