3rd party hosting?

Went to my build thread, and none of my Photobucket pics are showing up. Do I need to upgrade my FTE subscription or Photobucket?? Anyone seen this?

Photobucket does not want to play anymore.

You will have to pay a heavy price to use Photobucket resources on FTE.

I think older Photobucket pictures are still on FTE, but more recent ones are replaced by the icon you posted.

If your photos are on your computer, it is easy to drop them on to an FTE post. In fact it is easier than the Photobucket method was.

Photobucket made the news this week by cutting links to millions of online photos. There have been a couple of threads about it here on FTE.

This is like holding your pics for ransom.

You should still be able to get to them but it will not allow you to post to a site. Get them backed up to a CD or CLOUD if you want to be safe.

Jrockdiddy,
Go to Photobucket and select your library then select a album on the right had side there is a selection download this album. Select it jump through the I'm not a robot hoops and it will download a zip file in your downloads folder.
As Ross pointed out their no the same size you posted but you still have something.

Fun isnt it? I lost two builds of pictures plus. I sent a PM to the moderator to see if I can get the edit function opened to add the pictures back into the threads.

Good thing is if you have the time you can right click on the new photobucket upgrade image, select "open image in new tab" and you will see the picture if it is still on photobucket. Just makes it more work to see the pictures.

I switched to Imgur but will upload directly to this site from now on with my posts.

OK until they decide to change their policy too.

So what's the verdict on editing old threads? Lotta pics in my COE build are gone, plus my headliner how to and I'm sure others. What a mess.

Imgur doesn't operate like Photobucket. Two different ways of how they generate revenue.

The CEO of photobucket just came out and said that they are st8cking to their plan to charge $400 to embed pictures on other sites. I was kind of hoping all the bad press would make them back down so we wouldn't lose all these pictures. I too wonder if the mods could open up the edit function on our threads for a short time so we can make them usable again. It won't fix all of them, but at least the threads of current board users will be usable again.

I wonder what happened to make them make such a sudden and radical change. I'll bet bean counters were involved.
