I have a 1987 Ford e-150 conversion van. This van is a 5.0. The cruise control has never worked since I bought it used. The cruise control does not work what so ever. The horn works and the speedometer works perfectly fine. I would like to know how I would diagnose where the problem is and fix it.
Had a similar problem like this with an '89, way back.
Problem with the cruse not working, after it did, and then the engine shutting down on it's own. Found the problem with the body/engine harness connectors, the ones (4) that hand under the front cowl. Ended up cutting off the plastic connectors and butt splicing each wire per color, solved a couple of problems and the cruse was working again. At least check them for corrosion to see if that's a starting point.
