Just ordered 600 dollars worth of parts to do the water pump on the taurus. Get to remove the front cover of the engine to get to the stupid thing. Hope to get to it in the next few weeks..

Hey Guys,
Been working on a nice septic pump problem lately, and lucky for me the coupler burst open and sprayed me with sewer water. It was at about that point I called a plumber.
And Glue Guy, I'm also piecing together a gas powered water pump and about 400 feet of hoses to have some fire protection. The Loma Fire last year came to within a mile of my house!
At least my A/C is working well.

I will never understand why car makers make some cars hard to work on. Having to take the front cover off just to replace a water pump is just plain stupid IMHO. Back when I had my Jaguar XJ-S, I found out Jaguar did not put a drain **** on the bottom of the radiator. I never did find out the reason for that. I also found out it had 4 catalytic convertors, and four mufflers. I am surprised the engine worked at all with all those restrictions.
I am glad I don't hve septic tank problems.
Already done my errands for the day. Time to stay indoors and be cool. Maybe, just maybe, I can wait until 1pm to turn the AC on instead of noon.

Reminds me of the time I decided to replace the timing chain in our 1985 Nissan King cab.
No big deal he says.
Except that everything on the front of the engine was bolted to the chain cover. So remove alternator, water pump, smog pump.
But to get those off, had to pull the radiator.
Then the tie rod, because I also had to drop the oil pan, and it was interfering.
By the time I got to it, the chain and the tensioners took maybe 5 minutes.
Then re-assembly. Whole thing took me two days. Eesh. Ah, the memories.

happy friday indeed.
i replaced the alternator on the acura a few weeks ago.. thought i could do it w/o disconnecting the battery.. until my wedding band grounded out with the wrench in my hand..
arcing and sparking across my ring finder. burnt the ring, and the heat generated in the ring essentially melted the skin under my ring. got a real nice burn that lasted weeks.
cheers for the weekend!
