Weekend project - 4V Gasket Question

Well, I am sick of the intermittent tapping and associated Vacuum gauge readings that indicate a bad lifter.

Therefore, I have a box of parts from Summit and the 4V induction I bought in the last few weeks.

I am going to stick a Crane 801 in it, even though the compression is gong to be very low.

Got the adjustable rockers, proper springs, electronic ignition conversion, adjustable vacuum advance, and a new timing chain (I actually have 2, a Sealed Power and an Edelbrock)

So, that is the weekend plan, but I'm having trouble scoring a 4 hole thick gasket for the spacer to manifold.

My choices are to use an open one, or reuse the existing one (which is not in awful shape) temporarily.

I was kind of thinking that if I used the open one below the spacer (is a thick one) it would have much the same result as when they machine a small opening in a dual plane intake divider.

Is my theory all wet, what are the collective thoughts.

(BTW) all the Crane stuff will be taking up residency in a 428, or 390 with better compression later.

I don't know about your analogy, but I know that in the Edelbrock carb manual it says, in bold letters, not to use an open gasket. If your old gasket looks okay I'd use that before using the open gasket.
