i have a 1974 f250 that i put a dana 70 drw axle under the rear. i want to put duals on it but have not come up with a combination of tires and wheels that will give me the same or close height as the 38.5 gumbo mudders that i have on front. any suggestions
you would have to see this truck? to understand.
it is an ex cab with the back half of a 78 bronco on it.
a built 428 police interceptor engine, 6" frame lift,
lots more
very odd looking and i want to make it odder
thats why the dual idea.
thanks for the reply.
Oh I See, The only tire I could think of would be a commersial type tire for like a semi or dump truck that would be that high and skinny enough to be side by side.
Yes, commercial truck wheels and tires would give you the height that you are looking for. you can run 22.5" wheels, but they come in 10 lug. Chromewheel.com sells adaptors from 8 to 10 lug just for this type of conversion. steel wheels are easy to come by, or you can go with alcoas$$. Tire selection is pretty good also.
So the mud would have to be pretty thick to get the outer tire stuck. hmm...That shouldn't be a problem for me. I drive mostly through soft ground, wet - but not muddy, and some snow. Does it also have to do with the fact that the weight of the rear end is spread out on 4 tires and not 2?
