Lift or not?

hey guys, is this stock lift on a "79" 4x4?

I would like to run 35" and need to know how much lift. Yep! "66" on a "79" 4x4 chassis. These measure 31".

That's a factory block.

A stock half ton 4x4 will measure about 21 inches from the axle centerline vertically to the upper lip of the wheel arch (dent body). Dunno about a 66.

35s will easily fit with as little as a 2-inch lift in front and one inch in the back.

Thanks! Can I assume that if I get a 4" lift with new rear leaf springs, that the block stays in and the new springs go right on top just like stock?

It may depend on the lift. I got a rough country lift as that is one of the only manufacturers that doesnt want crazy money for our years. But my block was removed because i wanted a more level look. It is still approx .5-1 inch higher I'm the rear without the block. If you see that flat spot the block sits on that is what my leaf sits on now. If you want your rear to be like 3.5 inches higher than the front you would leave the block. Most lifts account for removing the stock block though.

Back end looks like the stock block for sure.

Rough Country are cheaper for a reason...I know because that because I have a very settled out (flat) set of 4" Rough Country front leaf springs on my 79 F250 with a 460.

I am going Sky Jacker next, like the 6" on my red truck. Most time you get a lift "kit" with front leaf springs or coils depending on application. And a extra block with longer rear u bolts and stack them.

If you order a lift kit "system", you get new rear leaf springs also but still have to reuse the OEM rear block.

Atlas Suspension offer an option to not reuse the rear block and get an ALL spring lift.

Add-on blocks go under the factory block.

Why? Because the inboard "wings" of the block are the bumpstop and would be too far from the rubber/poly bumpstop.
