My 88 f250 has a flatbed with no reverse lights, and that's always bugged me. I put in some new lights with reverse functionality and now I'm to the point of wiring. I found where they cut it in the rear of the truck, but they removed the socket to the transmission (zf5 manual) and of course cut the wires. I bought a new socket but have no power from either post on the switch. Time for a new switch or not? Also it has two wires and I don't know were they both go since only one wire goes to the back of the truck? If someone could please help me because I'm at a loss that would be much appreciated.
At the switch, one wire is feeding power from the current source which is probably a fuse that is shared with a couple other things but it may have it's own fuse, and the other wire leaves the switch to power the reverse lights. All reverse lights will be powered by this same wire and they probably used to share a ground to the chassis of the truck as well.

I didn't think of the wire going to the power source but it totally makes sense. I went out today and found the power source, then connected the other wire to the one that goes to the lights and now they work great!
