Steering damper?

Steering damper?
Does anyone know if the steering setup is the same under the 17 as it was in the 16? I upgraded my steering damper to a Bilstein on my 16 and tried the same yesterday with my 17, everything looks the same and bolted up just fine but the damper is to long and the truck and won't turn to the right fully. Thanks for any info
