I have been reading about numerous problems with the stock PSD intake. I was runing the K&N for a while, but today took it out and put a stock replacement back in. Tomorrow, I am calling my buddy at Ford to price out the AIS unit. My question is this. How do you know if any damage has been done? All components of my air box look okay and the lid is sealing tightly. I ran the K&N for about 10, 000 miles and the truck has only 27,000 on it now. It is not smoking or burning any oil and seems to pull as good as it ever did. Now I am paranoid!!!!! This sucks!!!!! What are some of the symptoms others have had with "dusted" motors. I am really skeered to hear that Ford is not stsnding behind their warranty coverage on this.

Ceejay ,some guys get their oil analyzed, looking for different things . If your paranoid change your oil more frequently .
I would think if you were running in alot of dusty situations I'd be more paranoid ,but since I don't know the conditions you drive in we can't really say!

If you pull the plumbing back to the turbo you can easily inspect the blades of the turbo and visually see any damage that has occured. I took some duct tape and sealed off the cracks on the origional air filter while I was waiting on the Tymar setup to arrive. You can easily do the same until you decide which filter you want to install. If, after inspection , there appears to be damage I would put the old , origional ford filter back on and immediately take it to your dealer and have him inspect and document the damage. good luck , sk

That is not many miles, what did the intake tube look like? Any dirt down in there? Put the AIS on, get your oil tested a couple of times in row and don't worry about it.
Good luck.

Born.to.ride, I use Blackstone Labs in Fort Wayne, Indiana (260) 744-2380. They have a website, you can get them to send you a free sampling kit. Mail it in an they e-mail you a report right away and send you a hard copy in the mail. Analysis cost $18.00. That is pretty cheap so I get it done every 10K. When you send them a sample they send you two sampling bottles back. It is to easy and cheap not to do it.
Thanks Oneof6...sounds easy enough to me, I'll give them a call today.

You could also take your lid off your aibox, and most likely you will find a dirt residue in the bottom of your airbox. You may be interested as to find how many problems there have been with dusted engines..

You can also check into your airbox, check for a dirty residue in the bottom of your airboxAnd never rely on the little guage that tells you when to change the filter, since it also doesnt work properly, good luck Ihope your engine isnt dusted yet like mine is,since we are facing the repair bill for a new or rebuilt engine.Since ford voided our warranty...GOOD LUCK Susana
