You may want to post model and year. I would look for a trailer harness pinched or shorted due to poor wiring at the connector to start with. A lot of aftermarket trailer harnesses are spliced into the tail lamps and would short the fuse to them if there is any exposed wire along the way. Ive also seen the "T" adaptors from aftermarket trailer harnesses short internally.
