2000 Ranger
Recently lost spare key and had it replaced. Several months later the truck intermittently had difficulty starting.
It now appears that the truck does not recognize the key
or the ignition does not recognize that the clutch is engaged....
I try to start the truck and its as if there's nothing there -
Battery is fine, fuses, wires, checked
Even replaced the starter (although I doubt it was bad)
Truck still won't start
Purchased truck new - did not recv a separate key for anti-theft system....its always just blinked when starting then turned off
Any suggestions?

This thread has been moved from Garage and Workshop Tips forum where we share ideas about how to organize tools, heat the shop, or free that rusty bolt. Unfortunately no truck tech questions are allowed there. Please scan down the list of available forums and place your topic in the most specific forum you can find, -fairly simple to do and just takes a moment.
Please take the time to read the headings and notices in each forum. The FTE board is HUGE! We want users to be able to find answers to their questions so it is organized into many areas and search tools are provided.

I'm confused..I have a 2000 Ranger with keys that have "chips" in them or something that needs to be programmed only by Ford
Do I also have some sort of remote starting option?
My mechanic is trying to get the truck to start - checked battery and replaced the starter...still nothing. He thinks it has something to do with the Anti-theft features
Anyway to disable it?
