Hi All, we got back from the long weekend (well took 4 exrta days) and going to south west Texas from Houston driving 75 the whole way I got 15.5mpg(5.4 sd cc 2x4 auto) bought gas from several different stations along the way, coming back it was raining so had to slow down to around 65 now there was no head wind just rain and we got 11 mpg and felt like I was towing a ship had no power.
I checked the Air filter K&N and it was clean. Last night while putting on new Bilstiens I put a new fuel filter on her. Still feels like a old tired mule.
In the AM I am taking her to a buddies shop to run a disgnotic
on .
Kittyhawk, I had the same thing happen to my 5.4 SD CC 4x4. only I went from 15 to 13 mpg. I,m still trying to figure it out. Good Luck, God Bless, huckster
The more miles I get on my V10 it seams my mpg has gone down. I swapped air and fuel filter but I am getting almost 2 mpg less now than before. Let us know what you find.
Get it on an analyzer to see if the 02 sensors and the rest of the electronics are working correctly.
Also have the tech chk the misfire count ,if you ran in alot of rain the coils on the plugs can mis fire common problem.
another thought chk the mass flow sensor for oil from the k/n filter
Thanks , it has a flow master 70 series muffler as for the mas air flow checked this AM when I got the tranny serviced and it looked ok.
My buddie loaned his obd out and hops its back tonight.
i had a similar problem with my 99,finally tracked it down to the electronic side of the egr system. funny thing was there was'nt a code showing on this for two months, but had that doggy feel to it. changed filters ,plugs, etc. to no avail.then one day engine light popped on,code registered. had problem fixed, truck nowruns like it did when ibought it.
