So I got another problem.
I took my 83 250 for a short drive the other day and noticed a pinging/clanking sound coming from what seemed like the front of the vehicle. It's hard to tell because it DOES NOT make the noise at idle. I also noticed when I was driving as soon as I engaged the clutch the noise went away (manual trans).
Anyone got any ideas?
Hoping it is not the engine.
My 4 x4 indicator dash light is on but my truck is set to 2L and the hubs are in the free postion. I just got the truck back after a few years and when they towed it they put it in 4wd to get it on the bed and now the light won't go off. Could it have something to do with that? Prob. not but hoping..
Jack each front wheel up and turn it by hand and see if anything is turning up front. Even though the hubs are in the free position, that does not mean they are unlocked.
It turned out to be a loose caliper. I took the wheel off and shook the rotor and noticed my caliper was rather loose. Did some research and found that I was missing the spring for the key and the anti-rattle clip.
