Hi all.
I a in search of the wiring that connects my truck to the camper.
the camper i have has a connector at the left front.
there is a connector on the chassis of the truck that is similar but a larger size that has wiring going to the back.
Anybody know what i need to join it up and maybe has one ?
Thanks. Ard
On my camper wiring I changed the plug on the truck to match the camper since the truck wiring was hacked anyway. Not hard to do at all. Btw I'm in Colton Oregon.
that is one weird looking connector! I have a '75 Trailer Special (and I still have yet to see someone definitively explain the difference between the Camper Special & Trailer Special), and the wiring harness is on the drivers side under the bumper. The PO hacked off the original connector and put on a standard 4-way flat connector, but I'll be replacing that with a 7 wire round connector.
Did some searching, and looks like this is what the connector is on your camper: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traile...ular_connector
Also came across this describing how to adapt your less-common adapter to a standard 4 way flat (since this is a slide in camper it should be fine as you don't have to deal with electric brakes): https://www.etrailer.com/question-35995.html
I was thinking i might run a cable from the towbar to the front and find a plug that fits the camper one. It's to run the lights that's the minimum requirement.

The molalla O'Reilly auto and Napa store has a good selection of trailer plus. You might run over and check. You may find a match . For your plug and have less wiring to do. I personally like the Napa store. The parts people there have more of a clue about the parts they sell.

hope this helps!
Great question-I'm glad you asked. There's a lot of confusion on the equipment difference between the Trailer and Camper Specials, so I've done the research, and I'm happy to share the results...
The Trailer Special has a Trailer Special badge
The Camper Special has Camper Special badges.
That's it. You're welcome
In case everybody doesn't already know, Curt makes a plug-in connector for standard four wire trailer lights. Plugs into the factory harness near the left rear. No cutting or splicing required!
I am in search of the wiring that connects my truck to the camper. The camper I have has a connector at the left front. This is not a genuine Ford wiring harness, if it plugs into the camper itself.
At final assembly, the wiring harness/plug used for Camper Special clearance lamps was placed inside the glove box.
The tail lamp harness of Camper Specials has an extra feed wire for this harness to plug into.
If the wire harness plugs into the camper itself, it's not genuine Ford.
