front wheels grabbing when towing and accelerating
Hello,
I have a 98 explorer and when I am towing a trailer or hard accelerating from a stop, I get very strange feeling from the front end. It feels as if the 4wd is kicking in and letting go or slipping. I have the auto 4wd and suspect it is that. Any suggestions? Is this normal?
thank you
Dave

I bought a 97 and it felt funky in the front end. Drained the transfer case fluid and about a pint of nasty fluid came out. Should have been over 1 1/2 quarts. Put new fluid in and it has been fine for almost 2 years. The rear seal was leaking but there was no sign of oil (at least till I filled it up). These tend to be a very ignored part of the vehicle.
