84 radiator

Trying to upgrade the radiator in an 84 from the original 2 core to a 3 or 4 core aluminum. BUT I CANT FIND ONE THAT FITS!

Everything is listed 80-83, skips 84, then picks back up at 85. Which, whatever, it's the same body, I know that. But all of them are smaller than what's already in it? I can't find one that's physically as large as the one it already has.

WHAT GIVES???

Hmm, I recently searched for a new radiator for my '84 F250 (351W). No trouble finding one for mine.

I saw 80 to 84 sat on rubber blocks, with a pair of brackets to secure the top. Then it looked like 85+ took a different style that bolted to the back of grill support. Not sure why your searches kept skipping 84. What engine did you use?

That was just what I saw from a few online sources. Does that sound right? Never touched an 85+, so am not positive.

Anyhow, here's what I ordered:

It hasn't arrived yet, so no report about fit or quality.

They may be the same body style, but there were significant changes in radiator supports, as shown here: Radiator Support - ???Gary's Garagemahal. Basically it says that 1980-84 used one support and 85-86 used another. But, then there were other differences as well, although the 80-84 and 85-86 difference is the main one.

You didn't say what engine is in the truck, but you can look here and see the part numbers: Radiator Part #'s - ???Gary's Garagemahal. Lots and lots of variations.

I'm glad I don't have a 6 cylinder. I suspect it would be hard to get NOS "tire carcass" as specified in the parts manual (per Gary's website link).

It was a 302 originally. A Cleveland sits in its place now.

Yeah it uses the rubber blocks on bottom and bolted "hands" on top.

I will dig deeper into the matter and see what exactly it is. And the dimensions of it.
