is it fair to assume I should expect to get 10-12% off MSRP , in Kansas City area?
anyone around KC getting like $1000.00 below invoice?
I mi just want to be ready when I sit down and talk with these guys , I don't want to say something stupid low but I also don't want to leave a bunch on the table.
I don't think it's unreasonable particularly if you're ordering. I paid invoice plus pocketed the incentives at the time on an ordered truck $1750. I didn't haggle over dealer hold backs as they have to keep the lights on and operate the business.
Will a dealer tell me the " invoice" #?
More do I have to find that on my own ?
I tried true car but it was showing only about 5% off MSRP.
how can I see invoice #'s to see if it's a good deal or not?
Thanks!

Do you really think a dealer going to show or what they're making on a vehicle?? Only the Shadow knows for sure!!! I sold cars back in the late 80's and it was a standing joke when they told customers it was a hundred bucks under invoice. They will show the MSRP and make up some numbers to make you think you're getting a great deal but the real cost is only known by a chosen few. Of course maybe in the last 30 yrs or so their conscience got the best of them and they decided to tell the truth!!
I would have to say it all depends on the dealer. I know the general manager where I ordered from.
I sat with a salesman and went through the entire order and then he provided me a printout of the MSRP. He then walked away and came back with another printout that had the invoice and MSRP on it. The manager I know then came over and said how about this #, which wound up being under invoice.
Minus the above, if I asked for the invoice price and they wouldn't provide it I might feel slighted. I'd probably find another dealer who wants my business. My understanding is a straight order is easy on a dealership, and someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Not true. They have a copy of the invoice that shows A/D/X/Z plan which is there cost. A/Z plan is without holdback so that is what they pay Ford. Then you have whatever bonus cash they get on the back for selling volume. But you will never get below A/Z plan (before rebates).
Before I ordered my truck I went to a fleet sales guy and we put a truck together and he gave me a printout that showed MSRP pricing and Invoice pricing. I then went and built the truck online using the Ford site and asked for the same printout.
You can also find sites on the internet where you can configure a truck and get the same information. I then emailed every somewhat local dealer and ask how much over/under invoice for the truck I built on the Ford site.
Then picks what works best for you out of the responses and go order your truck. I ended up with a little over 10% under invoice including rebates.
My truck is on its way from the rail yard for delivery next week. The only bad thing I have noticed from ordering is that you have even more time to look over your vehicle/trim decisions while you wait. I was convinced I did not want a center console, but now I kind of wish I had ordered it....... But no way I want to wait another few months.
I'm not convinced that edmunds etc are giving me the right invoice price. On a $55K F250 I'm getting an invoice price of $52K. I just don't believe that.

Edmunds True Value is about what I am paying under x-plan
You can get invoice and msrp on costco.com if your a member. You go through the auto program section and build the vehicle. Shows both prices for options as well. And, $1k under invoice before rebates is not unreasonable. I got that deal in .CA.

I just built one close enough to my truck and the MSRP and invoice lined up.
Close enough for me. Then you need to see how much under invoice you can get the dealer to go. Then find all the rebates you can, I found $2,500 in rebates.
Edmunds was a little funny with picking options for the truck, just keep correcting it.

I ended up at 12% off MSRP with the $1000 rebate from Ford and the ordered brochure rebate of $750. 10-12% is extremely realistic. I was $8,775 off an MSRP of $72,955. Taxes ate that nice little discount up quick!
