After 280K and dragging my big *** in and out a million billion times its time to fix it. I would like to replace the seat bottom I think. Maybe just the springs and cover? I need some direction as to how to proceed and where to get the needed parts from cause I'm sure as heck not going to Ford.
I have a 2000 XLT, but I replaced the seats with a 2005 XLT. I got the cushions from White Bear Ford.
So a 05 cushion is a good fit for the 2000 seat? This would be good news as the older cushions seem non existent these days and I need a new lower. Do you have the part number you ordered?
I have read here that the 2001 YM has a one of a kind design to the seats. Does anyone know if other year model seats will work, mounting wise. I have the "extended cab" if that matters.
Local upholstery shops are more expensive, but the ones I have dealt with have great ideas and produce a quality product with better comfort than OEM. A friend of mine ordered a new 2015 F-350 with cloth seats, took it to an upholstery shop after he took delivery and had a beautiful two tone leather installed on all the seats. He is still very happy with the job they did and saved a bunch of money over the factory leather interior package.

Ok I read my post and I didn't explain myself very well. I was trying to rush an answer.
So I replaced my seats with seats from a 2005 F250. When I pulled them out I just used the bottom metal and the back metal and attached them to my 2000 F250 seat brackets. The metal frames were the same, but the bolt holes were different to the mounting hardware/ brackets. But they were still there you just had to move the bolt over one spot. If you lined up the two it's self explanatory. I also reused the cloth. I just washed it in the washing machine.
Long story sorry.
But the metal bottom and back were the same shape. If you bought different cushions and covers you should be ok.
Also when I took mine apart on the seat there were numbers on the cushions and those are the numbers I used for replacement parts. I don't remember the numbers. 2885 maybe for the bottom.

us with 2001s are screwed...you will have to swap seats to a newer (or older) model from what I am told...
Or have a trim shop repair with foam parts to get you by
Spongecop,
So what is different that this is the case? Is it just the shape of the foam? Is the mounting for the rails common with other year models so that you could replace the entire seat if necessary?

I don't believe any of us really know the answer to your question. The Seat Shop may very well know, but I believe that the only thing they have said is that "they are different", and that is in a direct inquiry about the cushion pads, not the seat frame. Since I don't have a 2001, I have neither the need nor the spare time to chase down the details from them, but if someone needs or wants to better understand the specific differences, they could call the Seat Shop and try to press them for additional details.
