So ive been having an issue with my 87 F150 4.9/300 EFI... I have no power underload/uphill.
Looking for possible solutions to the power issue i noticed that the distributor/wires are setup as you can see in picture 1 below. Funny thing is my Ford Shop Manual, Haynes Manual, and my AllDataDiy account show pictures that say it should be setup the way its shown in picture 2 below.
What is the correct way to install this ? Any help?
the truck is givng me around 18 miles to the gallon and hasnt thrown any codes...
If it runs at all you have it "pretty close".... The thing to do now is get out, borrow, or rent a timing light, pull the spout connector and set the timing.... It should set to 10° BTDC, but you can play with it and go up to near 14°, just listen for it to ping under load, if it does back it back down a degree or two until it stops pinging under load.
