i just rebuilt a 90 model 302 wand converted it to an edelbrock 650 carb with a weiend intake rebuilt heads 286 duration cam with 474 exhaust lift. it is bored .060 and the crank turned .010.
it is hooked to a c6 in an 82 f150 extended cab for the moment ,it will be going in a 76 mustang with a 4 speed soon but anyway it cranks right up and seems to runs perfect like brand new i put the new timing chain set in perfect time both dots match up i have an electric fuel pump it is a cheap one it has good acceleration but it will not spin the little tires that my truck has on it at all, not even when it is wet no powerbraking either. i fixed all the vacuum leaks when i parked it and it had a little more performance but not much what is wrong i know i need new spark plug wires they are accel wire i got from a friend and it now has a small miss. please help
i believe i have the distributor right on 0 degrees tdc
i don't remember the .050 duration the box is with the truck and that is at my uncles house. it has the stock 9 inch rear end i don't know the ratio though
but that would not matter i forgot to say that the worn out motor that had really bad blowby spun the tires and powerbraked it did not have the acceleration though. what is duration @.050 anyway
well the dur. @.050 is for the most part what determins what rpm your motor makes its power, there should be a (specs) card with all new performance cams. IF you have the distributor (ignition) timming set a TDC, then change it, you should be able to run 8 degr. BTDC, what kind of dist. is it? comp controlled. or vac advance? DW
the truck takes off fast but i think it has some hidden talent that i covered up. i have a cheap electric fuel pump on it every time i rev it up and let off the gas it stumbles i think i need a better pump how about youwhen i first cranked it up and was adjusting things i just had a little gas tank with a hose straight above the carb like a lawnmower and it did not do that at all now it does since i have the pump hooked up.
