How difficult is it to replace the heater core? Where do you start?
My Bronco 5.8l is leaking raidator fluid from the passenger side looks like somewhere above the y in the exaust pipes, I dont think there is any coolant lines around there. The lines going into the heater are dry but, my buddy who has a 90 F150 has the samething going on a thinks it the heater core.
Year and info would be helpful.
My 82 may be the same as up to 96, but not sure thoe.
The heater core is fairly easy to change it is located under the glove compartment, and usually if its leaking, you would be getting water on the passenger floor board.
well talk later.
Broncoroadkill has it right. Usually with a bad heater core you will get coolant INSIDE the truck on the passenger floor board. You may have a pressure leak in one of the hoses that feed the heater core. If this is the case the hoses may appear dry once the truck has cooled down. Eventually you should see white or grey scale around the leak point though. Might do a check while the truck is hot and still running.
It is your heater core I bet. If your bronco is the same as my 96 there is a drain that comes out of your fire wall in case your heater core springs a leak. At least mine has a drain. I noticed coolant leaking from my fire wall and I also thought is was the air conditioner untill I noticed the 1 inch drain tube coming out of the firewall right below where the heater core is located. I did not have any leakage inside the cab.
