What have you done to your truck today?

Removed the hood, stripped all the trim from it, powerwashed it inside and out. Determined that the rs hinge is too worn out to fix- will have to be replaced. Reinstalled hood (sweat, sweat- it's Florida, y' know) and discovered that cleaning, lubing, and adjusting the bum hinge had at least made it work more reliably. Tomorrow maybe I'll begin polishing the spears; I haven't decided yet whether to repaint or replace the V-8 center emblem.
The goal is to prepare the truck for paint which probably won't happen until winter at the earliest.
Meanwhile the damned boat constantly cries for attention...

Today I changed the oil, recurved the distributor, and installed a horn.

Thinking and thinking of....
Got up this morning thinking of what I am going to do with my 460. After just getting it to where I wanted it detail wise, a loud ticking noise appeared. Not a valve, push rod or lifter. Pulled the water pump and timing cover off and the crank moves up and down. Thinking all the way to work on pulling 460, maybe machine it OR purchase a CV and replace motor, trans and front end..........Thinking of how I am going to discuss this with the boss (wife). Thinking of all the time it will take before I can drive my truck if the motor is SHOT! Thinking of NOT thinking any more.

[I]Went to the Billings Montana all original car show. All entrants can be restored but must be 95% original. Went home with a first place trophy in the Light Commercial class. Stiff competition judged by 2 judges per class and I remarked to several people that I was not in the running for a trophy. I was very very surprised when 1st place was announced and it was me. Didn't even know the judges. Now I get to pull all brakes apart and put in new wheel cylinders. When I restored the truck I wanted to rebuild as much of it as I could. The cylinders were pitted pretty bad but I honed the heck out of them but they were still slightly pitted, well now they are leaking so I bought new ones.

This Hi-Boy is leaving a pretty good gap for this sized tire. The more I look at them the more I like them, especially for daily driving.
225/75r15 with powder coated ford steel rims. Looking for caps still.
I had a great day with it! I got a 70's bench installed (getting the original reupholstered), fixed the taillights, got new wheels on, and drove it about 30 miles.

Ahh c'mon keep the old straight axle ...give it some wedges so it tracks straight, add a sway bar and some disk and it will be a nice front end...vs lots of fabbing for a cv suspension swap...just my 2 cents- Nice 64 BTW...mines the same color...not nearly as nice..but it has power assist...and soon a pretty y block...
Thanks for the compliment on the truck. I purchased it already painted due to the fact I have no where to paint and body, and it worried me a bit that it may have been repaired and or hacked up. The more I dig into this truck the more I am impressed with the overall condition of it all and all seems to be original to the truck. Body, frame that is. Drive train is not.
