tilt steering

im having trouble with the tilt steering on my 86 150 . It won't tilt . what could be wrong?

Silly question, but are you pushing the lever towards the dash? Something could be locked up in there, if so. I have no idea what though.

I believe that it is just a lever (kind of like a park pawl) that catches a cog and it uses a spring to engage it.

just to let you know , the guy before had it rigged with pieces of metal. always happens to me!
