You would know all the trials I went through my first 2 days of ownership of my 1969 bump. So after the last bit, where I had it running great after some plugs, wires, cap, fuel filter and so on... then added seafoam to the fuel and.... kaput. While it seemed like the Seafoam in the fuel was the issue it wasn't
So turns out when the previous owner did the electronic ignition he did not properly do the air gap. It was acting all kinds of weird because of it. It would act fine one minute and run like crud the next. I guess it all depended on where the distributor was in its rotation on start up.
So a lesson for me... if a vehicle has aftermarket electronic ignition... runs fine one second and acts crazy the next... check the airgap!
The dizzy must have a badly warn upper shaft bushing for it to change from to time to time.

2X. This and plus the picture in your other thread showing the PO removed the hose going to the vacuum advance, leads me to believe you ought to buy a new Dizzy.
