First thing you need to confirm is why you have no oil pressure. You can have the best oil pump in the world and you won't build any oil pressure if your problem lies elsewhere. You could have anything from a leaky/loose oil pump, worn out main bearings etc. When you drain the oil ad pull the pan, DO NOT clean the pan before inspecting it internally. "Read the tea leaves" and look for any particulate matter/metallic sheen that may be the smoking gun you're looking for.

Could be a bad sending unit, faulty OEM gauge...do you have a T 'ed in aftermarket one? I would or trouble shot the easy ones before all the rest that is coming your way.

1) Check the gauge. It may be leaking or giving bad readings.
2) Check for leaks - is oil coming out of anywhere it shouldn't be?
3) Check your oil level - if its low that's a guarantee as to why its got no pressure.
4) When was the last oil and filter change? Old oil and clogged filters really bring down pressure.
4) If all of that doesn't help... then you need to dig in further. Engine out, pan off, check the oil pump and check the main bearings. Likely a full rebuild, or at least new bearings, will be in order. A 'cheap' way around this may be to test a few engines at the local pick-a-part and simply fit a new engine.

First off, Thanks guys for the replys. Truck has a working oil pressure gauge that works, Just bought this truck, oil and filter was just done, nothing unusual when I drained this oil out. speedo reads 97K who knows how many times its been around. front cover has been off tel tale blue permatex, not sure if pan has ever been down pan, came lose with one shot with rubber mallet. does the starter need to come out, and motor mounts disconnect from engine or frame mounts. guy I bought truck off of supplied pump, screen, fresh oil and filter. ran into problem with his daily driver forced sale of this truck.
Thanks again!
