First Ford Truck!
Just picked up my first truck!
Its a 1978 F250 Custom Regular cab long bed 2wd with the 460 and auto trans
It has 60k original miles and nearly no rust - was a California truck and brought to New England a few years ago and always garaged - best part was I got it for a crazy deal!
It currently has an Eddlebrock Carb on it - and essentially the only modification to the truck
Question is I am looking to add some more power to the truck - and was looking into headers, 2.5" piping into an H pipe, then Flow master mufflers and dumping just after the rear axle - a set of Cams, and changing the timing since from my research this one is limited to due smog. Also been reading about the heads on the later model not being ideal for power - which would be the best to change out to?
My other vehicles are all BMW or VW and this is my first Carb vehicle so trying to learn as much as i can
Thank you for any help!
Bruno
Changing the exhaust will give you some improvement (will sure sound better!). You mentioned an edelbrock carb, is the intake stock?
How much power you want to get out of it? you have a lot to work with on the 460.
It apprears to be a stock intake - will take photos of the engine pay to see if you guys can point me in the right direction
And hoping around 400-450 would be possible? Enough to roast tires when wanted
