Hey all. I finally broke down and ordered some custom battery cables for my 2001 7.3 Excursion. Long story short, a relative was helping and now he's not and I'm not sure where he disconnected the passenger lower ground. I think it might be the same bolt which holds the grommet for the positive but I'm not positive (ha-ha).
My second concern is that this was originally a Wisconsin truck and every bolt is rusted. I am unable to take off the smaller ground wire at the frame. This wire is separate on the kit I have and I'm wondering if it's necessary. Thanks.
You can ground to the engine block close to the starter, just watch the exhaust. Then run a jumper from that to the frame, just make sure it's clean metal and clean bolts.
Jazz, it mounts to the harness that goes down to the starter. Right on the side of the block where that harness is attached for stability. So, technically it is the same bolt that holds the grommet for the positive.
Thanks for the info guys. I will attach it with the grommet brace (which I had a hell of a time getting from the old cable to the new) and just drill a new hole in the frame for the smaller cable.
