ARE Shells

I just posted this on the ARE facebook page but I don't see it there.

I hope they get off their collective asses and take care of me as a customer.
After much research I purchased a brand new CXHD through Leer San Diego for my brand new 2016 F150 SuperCrew.

I felt like, even with the increased cost, that the ARE CXHD was perfect for my family's lifestyle.

Leer San Diego now has my shell and, apparently, ARE quality control was asleep at the wheel since my shell does not have the internal support nor the roof rack that will support my expedition loads and that I paid for.
Unbelievable that ARE would send me a CX rather than the CXHD I paid for.

I will be in San Diego to perform other work on my truck and my installation is scheduled for June 1.

I fully expect ARE to have my completed shell in San Diego when I arrive there from my home in Nayarit, Mexico as scheduled.

Sadly, I am just getting this notification today, May 20th, so ARE has 8 working days to put their money and work ethic where their mouth is and have my shell ready to install on June 1.

I can't just reschedule my trip from Mexico due to somebody at ARE not paying attention.

Here is why I purchased my ARE shell:

Well, the end result is that I have the shell without the internal frame.

They did offer to ship them to San Diego but I was there for a very limited time and I did not have the days needed for it to be assembled and mounted by an installer who have never even seen one before before I headed home to Mexico.

They should have just shipped a completed one out.

I put nice racks on the roof at the installers and also on the truck. I have them all off unless I need them since it only takes a minute to put on.

The construction of the shell seems good and the fit is decent with a bit of overlap at the back but that is OK.... and probably normal.

The doors and windows close well and the latches are great so far.

The only issue was that the weather stripping on the door came off after about 2 weeks.... just started falling off.

I did not want to cause a warranty issue so I emailed them and asked them what adhesive to use.

Answer: Super Glue.... they must have used the un-Super Glue at the plant.

Honestly, they screwed up and never once issued any kind of apology.

I have very mixed feelings, most of them not positive, about ARE's customer service and attention to order detail.

However, my situation is unique in that I drove up from Nayarit and had a schedule to follow..... this probably would not be an issue for anybody living in the USA since dealer access is readily available.

I hope that answered more questions than it created but if you have questions ask away.

I am happy with it, it looks great on my truck and my truck is badass with that Icon suspension and wheels..... I am happy overall.

Yeah, thank you. I found it strange form the standpoint of a consumer.

I think going to a dealer and being able to view product firsthand vs. the way I had to do it from Mexico all over the phone might be a significant advantage.

Good luck. I am happy with the product, I am just not enamored with their lack of communication and service.... however, I should not need service ( unless something cracks ) from them ever again.
