Question ?? Are You Stock or Modified??

Ok....I'm beginning to think I am one of the only stock truck guys on this site...just about everybody has changed out the exhause, air intake, put a lift kit on, or some other modification. My question is this...and I'm putting it to a vote:

who runs stock and who can't leave it alone like it is?

~~~ And for those of you who don't run stock, are you single? The reason I ask that is my wife would freak if I told her I wanted to do this and add that and buy this or that. ~~~~
?? Are You Stock or Modified??
I have a girlfriend, and she hates my truck, so she really dont care what I do to it. So far I have installed a whole new ignition and 500 CFM Holley and got rims and tires for graduation. I moved the shifter to the floor and got the seat reupholstered, and a custom installed radio. Exhaust has been cut up to make way for a set of free headers (turns out they were for a auto and wouldnt fit), so duals are on their way when I get the funding.
My truck is pretty much entirely stock. I even kept my 360 a 360 when I rebuilt it! I have no need to throw on all the extra motor goodies (dual exhaust, 4 barrel carb, etc, etc) or lift it to the sky. It's tall enough for me as stock. When I paint it, it'll get the same brown paint job that it is now, not a sweet candy apple red. The seat will still have a seatcover. The only enhancements I might add will be a sliding rear window, a stereo (nothing there now.. and I don't need 100's of watts.. just something to play my rock/country CD's), and whatever fire dept/hamradio/fishing/?? gear I may want to cart around with me.
My truck is heavily modified. No lifts or anything like that, but definitely not original.
The utility box was custom made from AMRC
The front and rear bumpers are custom made
The wiring is mostly custom, including the kill switch
Custom dual battery set up (wired together)
Edelbrock carb, custom welded single exhaust, K&N filter
Removed smog system (but you don't know that...)
New West Coast mirrors
Spotlights
The tags are wrong and not original (Says Ranger - should be Custom)
Glove box door is from a Ranger
Radiator, trans, and engine oil coolers (all extra large)
The 2-tone paint is custom and not to ford specs either...
Custom trim in the groove, pinstriping...
Custom welded trailer hitch
No spare or mount for one (removed?)
Shifter changed from a regular straight to a shorty
Wheel covers, rear has oversized tires
Fisher - you didn't give us a lot of options. Believe it or not, some of us go the other way instead of lifting. I have SSD tube w/K&N, but most of my mods are for appearance - lowered 3", aero kit, grill shell with polished billet in shell and valance, hood scoops, roll pan w/ 4 stainless exhaust tips, hard bed cover. As soon as I can locate the parts (2001-2003 Lincoln Navigator backup light/license assembly), I will be starting a major redo of the rear which will relocate the lights and put the exhaust through 4 stainless tips coming out of the roll pan where the license is now. I will have to build the new tail lights, but I've done it before. I have been searching for the Navigator part for over a month, but have been unable to locate an undamaged one. My truck is my toy and I have a lot of fun messing with it.
I have modified the exhaust on every single vehicle i have had. My 79 f150 is really the first truck to get engine mods. I won't mess with anything mess less then a v8.
sorry dono....I'd say you qualify for modified though! anyone that puts that much time and $$ just into appearance on their vehicle qualifies for Mod. Being tall and living in W. Texas, I don't know why anyone could bare the thought of lowering the truck, but I know there are some of you out there. During high school, we were leaving on our bus for a football game and one of the guys went to move his lowered truck. Got high centered on the speed bump right in front of the bus. We had to wait a good 5 minutes for him and a couple of his buddies to get it off pretty funny...ever since then I have to laugh when I see a lowered truck!
thanks for setting me straight! and by the way....I think adding Don Knotts to your cabnet is a step in the right direction!!!
I plan on cutting my exhaust pipes down to a couple inches from the glaspacks. Is that considered modding?
Radically modified.. You did not give a choice for that one, so I didn't vote.. There is nothing stock on my truck, I started doing mods as soon as I bought it new. (the factory warranty was void at 12 miles. so I had an after market that I used once in 100K miles.)
I've made some changes to my truck, but I don't think I would call it modified.
I added Headman equal length headers and Flowmaster 2-chamber mufflers to the exhaust - not much noticeable power increase, just a nice sound and look with the chrome duel exhaust tips.
I added a Hurst Bullet short throw shifter - big improvement over the stock 5 speed shifter - and it looks beter with the chrome Husrt "T" handle.
I removed the stock am-fm/cassette and added a Kenwood cd unit - again - nice improvement over the stock stereo.
Body wise, all I've done is an aftermarket bedliner, a pair of Autovent vent shades and a minor tint on the windows.
All this hardly counts as modified in my opinion. When I think "modified" I think of radical changes to the engine and drivetrain or body.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Glenn
Fisher - That truck that high centered was was waaay too low, and a sad thing to do to a truck - IMO. My 3" gives me the look I want, plenty of clearance and a very stable driver. Lift it or lower it, keep it clean or covered with mud, if it pleases the guy what owns it - its OK.
